Community Outreach
Lions Eye Hospital was established with the sole objective of providing quality eye care to the people who could not afford it otherwise.
We conduct outreach camps in the rural and semi urban areas to raise awareness, screen and detect eye defects and ailments and treat these, where possible. Today Lions Eye Care Unit has established a comprehensive eye care systems which offers community focused programme to address the eye care needs of various age groups. The primary objective of community eye care programmes is to fight against the curable and preventable blindness in India.

The vision of Lions Eye Hospital was born from the need to provide quality eye care to everyone, regardless of socio-economic, religious, linguistic and geographical backgrounds. The primary goal of the Community Eye Health Programme is to fight against preventable and curable blindness. Once Sankara Eye Hospital was established in Coimbatore, one of the first initiatives taken was to conduct exclusive outreach camps.

Social Campaign
A comprehensive Community Vision Rehabilitation Program for people with Visual Impairment to maximize their Functional, Social, Psychological, Economical independence and to improve the quality of life allowing visually challenged individuals to live an independent productive life.
Save The Youth
This programme is targeted to cover Children in the age group of 4 to 15 studying in the elementary schools, middle schools and high Schools.
The teacher’s volunteers are trained to do the preliminary vision screening of students. After this, an eye care team from Lions Eye Hospital screens the school children.
Help The Needy
It is a comprehensive program initiated to address and control blindness arising out of Diabetic Retinopathy.
The primary objective of this program to establish a comprehensive Diabetic Care network across Lions Eye Foundation India and to reach out to rural population, screen and treat for Diabetic eye diseases.
Environment Protection
Environmental advocacy organisations focus on a range of contemporary environmental problems and then push for change through legislation, research, and/or direct action.
