With our vision to provide comprehensive, compassionate and quality eye care for all by setting the highest standards in Eye and Dental care and to serve the humanity towards a healthy future through our holistic approach, we at Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital have solemnly pledged to serve and exceed the patient’s expectations.
For a hospital with over 25 years of history, I believe that it is our obligation to set the benchmark for others to follow and thereby repose faith to fulfill our patient’s expectation and continue to provide them with the best possible treatment at affordable costs.
The compassionate team at GLEH strongly believes in fulfilling the motto of “WE SERVE” and is committed to provide high quality services to the patients. We strongly focus on bringing the best Eye care and Dental care services to northeast while maintaining the emphasis on enhancing every patient’s experience. This is backed by high end technology with procedures and surgeries being performed as per standard protocols. The Nursing and paramedical staff members impose no limits to their aspirations and possess true tenacity and drive to achieve their goals.

Lions Club of Gauhati was chartered in 1969 by Lions Clubs International and has since then been rendering yoeman’s service to the society in various spheres. Our prime focus is on eradication of reversible blindness and as part of this drive, we established GAUHATI LIONS EYE HOSPITAL in 1997 and have since then have successfully treated thousands of patients every year.
Our Eye Hospital is now one of the premier institutions for eye care in the city and we cater to all segments of the society. Through our community service scheme, we treat the under privileged patients totally free of cost and our outreach team conducts free eye screening camps every week in rural areas where people do not have any access to eye care.
We have a team of dedicated Club members in our Hospital Committee who oversee the hospital operations supported by a very able and dedicated team of Ophthalmologists and technical staff with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Our mission is to make our region CATARACT free and we appeal to all to organisations to come forward and join hands with us in this endeavour.

GAUHATI LIONS EYE HOSPITAL is the TEMPLE OF SERVICE of Lions Club of Gauhati and has been a landmark project by which our services have been widely acknowledged in the society since 1997. Our motto is “TO SERVE” and one of the five focus areas of service for us LIONS is prevention of reversible blindness, of which cataract is a major cause. Early detection and treatment is the key and we have been rendering our services for 25 years so that people can experience the magical sight of nature and warmth of family togetherness.
With a humble beginning from a small OPD, today we have a modern hospital with state of the art operation theatre, diagnostic centre, 25 bedded recovery halls, etc for patients. Our Hospital is ISO 9001:2015 certified and donations are exempted under Sec 80G of the I.T.Act 1961.
The success of our hospital over the years can be attributed to the dedication and sincere efforts of our team comprising of some of the most experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists and nursing staff who take utmost care to treat all patients alike.
We have a dedicated community OPD, wherein down trodden people are treated free of cost. As part of our outreach activities, we conduct eye-screening camps every week in remote areas and through our vehicles ensure that the affected patients are brought and operated at our hospital and then dropped back home safely.
We also operate a Dental Care Unit and it is a one-stop solution for all dental problems with experienced Prosthodontist, Orthodontist, Periodontist and Oral and maxillofacial Surgeon in the team.
A most modern 180 seater air-conditioned auditorium has been dedicated by us in the Hospital complex for the community wherein meetings, seminars, cultural programs, etc by various other organisations in the city are also held.
We would like to acknowledge the contributions by various well-wishers in the society because of whom we have reached where we are today, not to leave out Lions International without whose guidance and support this project would not have seen the light of day.

Designed by Maurice Blink and approved by International board on 31 st December, 1921. The encompassing circle around the large L symbolizes Lions Clubs and members the world over bound together into one.
The profiles of the two lions looking into two directions represented lions looking everywhere for opportunities to serve. While one lion symbolizes each member of the organization contemplating proudly on the past achievements, the other stands for lions looking ahead towards a great future for Lionism. The word ‘LION’ at the top represents Association and the word ‘INTERNATIONAL’ at the bottom signifies that it is International in character
